You know the basics of InDesign, but do you know how to plan, create, and output an entire book? In this course, instructor Mike Rankin shows you the whole process. Mike begins with best practices for workflow, setting up preferences and workspace, and document construction. He covers parent pages, layers, text variables, and section markers, then shows you how to use templates and styles to format text, tables, and objects. Mike walks you through several methods to collaborate in InDesign, including InCopy. Then he dives into building the elements of your long document’s infrastructure, such as creating a table of contents, working with and customizing cross references, creating footnotes, endnotes, and much more. Mike goes into creating indexes and shows you how to use book files and the controls in the Book panel for numbering, synchronizing, preflighting, and outputting book documents. Plus, he steps through outputting your document to both print PDF and interactive PDF formats.

    I found this course, InDesign: Creating Long Documents, when I was just starting my first long document in InDesign. It was super helpful for me. Indispensable, actually! I highly recommend this course to anyone who needs to build a multi-chapter book with multiple individual InDesign documents.

    Good experience with videos. I wish there was also a step by step guide for each of the processes taught so I could simply refer to the guide for help after taking the course.
