Volumetric lighting
- In this movie, we're going to take a look at creating volumetric light inside of after-effects, with the help of some effects, positioning our layers precisely, and a very helpful expression. So I'm here in my chapter 3_7 composition, and we're going to create some volumetric light. I just want to break down this scene for you, we've got some 3D text here. In fact we've got two text layers. We've got one, if I solo that item, you can see there that it's pretty dark. And we've got another text layer just above it, it has a bevel effect on it to almost appear like it is 3D. Now the cool thing is, this text layer in particular, is set to cast shadows, and it's casting shadows on the gray solid that you see here, which is set to accept shadows. And if we take a look here at the point light there in the scene, that it's set to cast shadows as well.
