Welcome
- Hi, I'm George Whitty, welcome to my jazz piano course. This is level one, and in level one our goal is to get you up and playing on an F blues, classic jazz form. We're going to discuss a number of different tools to use when you play on a tune like this. So we'll start right in with some scales, they're called bop scales, and they keep you in sync with the harmony, in a way that's kind of unique. Everything you play kind of sounds correct when you use these things. We're going to discuss something called an approach pattern, which is a really nice little hinge, to kind of give you a way to turn your line around, and add a little bit of tension and release to the line. And we're going to start in with some left hand voicings as well. So enjoy the course, good luck with it. And let's dig right in.
