- [Instructor] When we have piping systems in a plant facility, branches flowing from a pipeline always contain the same liquid or gas as the mainline. However, when we having branches flowing into a pipeline, it may be a different service. This rule also applies when we create our intelligent P&IDs. Let's open up our drawing, 0405 P&ID, and we'll take a look at the lines on the discharge side of these two pumps. I'll create a new line, here, and I'm going to tag this. I'll call this one a 6-inch, 300 pounds, Cooling Water, and I'll call this one 9000. Okay so let's take a look at these two lines, that we have here. So, I'm going to create a branch. I'm going to get a primary line segment and create a branch on this line, coming from the branch and leading off the page. So, I'm going to annotate this line, so we can see how we've been tagged, and you'll see that coming from that line, it's automatically assigned the service and the line number from the main header.
