Using the Shape Builder tool
- [Instructor] Similar to the Path Finder panel, the Shape Builder tool allows you to create or remove shapes from existing overlapping shapes. You can see in this design that I have several shapes that are overlapping one another. Some are at 90 degrees and some are at various angles, and we're going to use those to create new shapes. Click on the Shape Builder tool in the Tools panel to make it active, and in the Layers panel, make sure that you're on the artwork layer. Press Command + A or Control + A on your keyboard to select all the artwork on that layer. To remove shapes that you don't want, hold down the Alt or Option key as you drag over the areas to remove those shapes. If you see any remnants left over, you can Alt + click on them as well. Now you can see the shapes that are remaining, but keep in mind that there are some areas where there's going to be several triangles stacked on top of one another. So to…
