A brief history of typography
- [Instructor] So this movie is gonna give you a super brief overview of the history of type design. And we're gonna pick up the history after Blackletter and its replacement which refers to an old style typeface and right now, what we're looking at is Garamond. Came around in the 15th Century and it was meant to be a lot more legible than Blackletter. Some people refer to this as a humanist font. I want you to pay attention to the O when I say that. The other thing that you wanna keep in mind is taking a look at the difference in strokes. While not completely a lot of contrast, there is a little bit of contrast in the strokes of the letter form Garamond here. Now there are other old style typefaces such as Bimbo that really represent this style but people will tend to use this to refer that old style type era that took place during the 15th Century in communication.
