Use construction lines to build robust sketches
- [Instructor] The purpose of this video is to show you how to design a little bit more elegantly. Now, right here on the screen, you can see I have a sketch and it's fully defined, everything looks completely fine. There's no errors, there's no conflicts, things like that. But the problem is is it's ugly. We're doing way too much work here. We have to many of the same dimension in this drawing, you can see this dimension is one inch, this one's one inch, one inch, one inch, one inch, two inch, two inch, two inch, two inch. We're just redoing the same dimension multiple times here. And this part's symmetric, the right-hand side looks like the left-hand side. So why do all that work twice? It's better to be efficient in your design in SOLIDWORKS and to think about combining things together, making things equal, using construction geometry versus dimensions to refine your design a little bit better.
