Webassessor registration and scheduling an exam
- [Mike] To register for Salesforce certification exam, just go to certification.salesforce.com and click Register for an Exam. And from here you can log in if you already have a Webassessor account. If you haven't created a Webassessor account, click Create a New Webassessor Login now, and then on this screen you want to enter in your information to create your account. Now, there's a lot of fillers that you need to fill in. The main thing to keep in mind is that your Webassessor login needs to be an email address and that I must recommend that you use your personal email address rather than a work email address because you don't want to lose access to your Webassessor login if you change jobs. Then, you enter in your name information, your email address, as well, once again, here and then also, here's another fill for your email address that is associated with your Salesforce account. So you may have a personal email address, a work email address and then even a different email that's associated with your Salesforce login. And so you want to enter this information in correctly and, ideally, in a perfect world you would just use your personal email address for your own free developer account that's associated with your Salesforce login. So beyond all that, you'll want to enter in your contact information up above and then for company name you'll want to enter just your personal name here. So, for example, I've entered in Mike Wheeler in mine. And so the only reason you'd want to enter a company name is if you work for a Salesforce partner company. They're scored based on the numbers certified individuals they have. And so ask your Salesforce partner company if you're an employee of theirs or consultant of theirs, how would you need to enter this so that they get credit for your certifications that you hold. Then, as well, it's asking if you're an employee, a customer or a partner, unless you're an employee or a partner sells for just like Salesforce customer. And then, also specify if your role is government-related by selecting public. Otherwise, just leave it to default of private and then click Save. Once you're logged in, you just simply click Register for a New Exam to register for your certification exam. And so, these are the different types of exams that are available in Webassessor. Find the plus sign next to the type of exam that you're wanting to take. I'm going to select one of the exams for certification that I don't currently hold so I can show you how this works. I'm going to select Community Cloud, Consultant exam, and don't get tricked on what specific exam I'm selecting here because you may be going for Administrator, Sales Cloud Consultant, Service Cloud consultant, Platform, App Builder, Developer one, whatever certification you're going for, just find it in the list and then select Register. Now, there is online proctor versus onsite proctor. Proctor means that someone is watching or monitoring to make sure you're not cheating. So, there's the online proctor option where you can test using your computer and a web camera. The web camera has to be one that's not inside of your laptop, that is separate external web camera, for instance. The next lecture, I go into taking the exam online versus onsite and all the details on that. So the main thing here is determining if you want to take the test online or if you want to go to onsite location and then selecting where, when you wanting to register. So I'm going to select onsite proctor. Then you select your location. Now, it's defaulting to my location based on my user account. I'm in Tennessee, and so the nearest one to me would be Nashville. So I would select this particular location and click Select. Over here, there's different test times available. The next time is highlighted by default, and it's darkened. So it looks like the only test times available on this particular month is on Thursday the 18th. Then there's these different times that are available to select from. So just find a date that best works for you and the time. And, as well as much, the same experience with online proctor exams it doesn't give you center testing location because you're going to be taking it from home or remotely so you'll just have to select a date and time. So once you've selected, you acknowledge that you've read and understood all the information stated above the text box and agree to abide by the terms and rules, so you check there. Then click Select and it should take you to a check out page, and it's here that you can enter in any sort of coupon or voucher code. You get voucher codes if you go to things like TrialheaDX, Salesforce conference, or if you work with a Salesforce partner or if you're an employee of a partner company that may give you a voucher code. But for the most part, there's not a lot of coupons or vouchers available for these exams. And so, if you do have a coupon enter here click Submit, and then once you're ready to check out you just click Check Out and here's where you pay for the actual certification exam. And so you enter your billing information and submit. That will complete the process of you paying for the certification exam. And then you will get reminders as the day approaches that your test is scheduled, and then you can go from there. So the main thing to know or to realize is that you can select either onsite or online. And we'll cover that in the next lecture.
