Creating glass
- [Instructor] Given that transparent of refractive material such as glass and water are also likely to figure in one form or another in many of the projects that we undertake as a rendering artist, it seems like a good idea to take a look at how we might go about creating one of those from scratch. In this instance, a basic or generic glass shader that we can use as a starting point for perhaps more specialized glass types. In the materials section of the asset editor then, let's create a new generic material that we then want to right-click on and rename, basic glass. Glass is a material that doesn't really have a surface color property associated with it. Even when we create a colored glass, it isn't the diffuse controls in our material that will provide the color information. Those options are designed to mimic surface light interaction, whereas the coloration found in glass objects typically comes from light interaction that happens inside the volume.
