- Here's Whiskey Before Breakfast one of the most popular tunes to play on the guitar. One of the most popular flatpicking tunes. It seems to be sort of a national anthem for flatpicking. It's Doc Watson has had some versions of it over the years. I was fortunate to win a Grammy with Doc Watson on a version of this tune, and so I'm really happy to bring it here to the site. Happy for a lot of folks to learn how to play this tune, that have wanted to learn in the past. It's fairly straight ahead, there's a lot of good things here at the basic curriculum that we can learn and also use as fundamentals as we get more aware of the guitar neck and more aware of the fundamental approach to flatpicking. One of the great things about this tune is that it's, a lot of the melody sort of just based out of this c position. I have the capo on the second fret, we're in the key of d.
