- Aperture Priority mode is most useful if you want to take control over the aperture settings. For example, you could choose an aperture to control the depth of field and the camera will automatically select the right shutter speed for the proper exposure. Now, to shoot Aperture Priority, it may vary from camera. You might have to set it to A or AV and this will allow you to dial it in. In the case on this Fuji, I could just use this simple control ring right here on the lens and instead of having the aperture setting in A for automatic where it chooses my aperture, I could just dial it in. Now, this can be quite useful when shooting something like a portrait and you want to control the blurring of the background. Aperture lets you set the aperture and then the lens will make the choice. So here we've got this set to wide open at 2.8 for this lens.
